My Holy Grail Products

As my love for all things beauty grew over time, I've also jumped onto the bandwagon of searching for my holy grail products. I've tried my best to limit the products down to just a few so it's not too overwhelming for you!

Eyes

One product that gets used almost everyday no matter what I'm wearing on my face will be the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette. This is heaven in a palette! And when you think it can't get any better, it smells like chocolate too. Some mornings I would even take ages on purpose when applying my eyeshadow just so that I can sniff this palette a good few times.... It's got a perfect mix of mattes and shimmers and suits both daytime and night looks.

For an easy everyday look, I apply marzipan or créme bulee all over the lid and then softly blend salted caramel along my crease. For a slightly more made up look, I will also apply a darker brown like hazelnut or haute chocolate on the outer corner.

This palette is definitely the holy grail of all holy grail of eyeshadow palettes... I don't think I'm being overly biased (...maybe I am) by saying this but I really don't see any other eyeshadow palette replacing this one anytime soon!

This one... alright it might be a little too premature to say that this cheek palette is my holy grail product considering that I've barely had it for a month... This was one of my Christmas presents from Chris and I've been drooling over it for ages before I finally owned one!

I guess I can be pretty biased because this is actually the first high end blush (palette) I own! It's pretty exciting hehe. I've been wanting the laguna bronzer for ages before Nars came out with this palette but I guess... good things come to those who wait.. :))) It's such good value for the amount of product you get too - the palette is £45 compared to £27.50 for one laguna bronzer sold seperately!

Top L to R: Paloma contour duo, Laguna
Bottom L to R: Robotic, Blasphemy, Luster, Dolce Vita

My favourite go-to shades are Laguna for contouring, Blasphemy if I want a bit of flush to the cheeks, and Luster for a more natural glow to my yellow undertone skin. I have also recently started setting my under eyes with the lighter shade of Paloma and it really brightens up my face! Nars One Shocking Moment Cheek Studio palette is sold exclusively at Space NK in store and online here.

Base

I've always felt that if there is one type of make up that you should always splurge on, it is base product. I guess it's just because they're the ones that are always directly in contact with the bare skin so I'm usually quite careful with what I use. Something that I've always been quite conscious about is my pores, so Benefit Porefessional does the job perfectly. It minimizes the appearance of pores and provides a smooth base for foundation application. The mattifying feature of Porefessional also helps to keep any oiliness to a minimum and with the current weather of England I barely need to blot or touch up my make up all day!

And my Nars Sheer Glow - what can I say? I've been hearing so much about this foundation and one day I had a weak moment and succumbed... and bought it on a whim. But it turned out to be one of the best impulse buys ever! I remember wearing it for the first time the next day and Chris, who has never ever in the history of us being together noticed much of my make up, asked me what I have 'done to my face' because I was glowing..!!

This foundation doesn't have much of a 'sheer' coverage though, which was what I was initially mistaken about. It's a medium buildable coverage with a sheer GLOW in the foundation. Because it's still a high end make up product, I only use it on days when I have to be more dressed up or have to be out for most of the day.

Eyes

Of course, I'll be needing a holy grail eye primer to go with my holy grail eyeshadow palette. With my Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, my eye make up stays on all day. I always leave the primer for a good few minutes before applying any eyeshadow so that the primer will set fully and my eyeshadows are more easily blended.

I must also credit my Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner because this eyeliner is really the bomb dot com. Because of my oily eyelids I've tried and tested my fair share of eyeliners and I can say that none can match up to this one. It doesn't budge... ever!!

My favourite mascara for the past two years now has been the Lancôme Hypnôse. I used to work at the Lancôme counter in Selfridges and received plenty of their mascaras to try out and I became a fan of it so quickly. It was also one of our best selling products and the customers just kept coming back for more!

Lips

Out of my mountain of lipsticks, I find myself reaching for MAC Mocha the most often. I am someone who's very un-adventurous with lipsticks (so no reds, dark colours) and Mocha is just perfect for me. It has the right balance of pink and orange with a brownish tint to it, kind of like Velvet Teddy but more orange. Sadly, Velvet Teddy washes me out - I've tried it on so many times again and again over the past few months hoping that one day it will just look amazing on me like it does on everyone else, but I guess it's just not my colour.. I have since discovered Mocha and never looked back, so you can say Mocha is to me like Velvet Teddy is to everyone else.. It just completes my bronze/natural everyday look. :)

I also line my lips with MAC Boldly Bare as it makes my lips look fuller and more defined. Tip: Make your lipstick last longer by filling in your lips completely with a lip liner before applying lipstick!

Let me know if you try out any of these products! Still trying to get the hang of photographing make up products... Lighting can be such a pain in the bum!

Love,
Kayleigh x

  4. Would love to try Nars Sheer Glow! Currently using the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation but it's so hard to get hold of in Asia!

Do you recommend Sheer glow for us with slightly sensitive skin? Bought my CT from Selfridges and since I'm back at home, delivery charges cost is so hefty. Wouldn't mind paying but if I could find something similar, why not give it a go :)
